- Gym mats should be visually appealing, whereas stable mats appearance is not of paramount importance.
- Gym mat tiles should be accurately machines, stable mats tend to have wider tolerances as they are often covered with wood chip and not immaculately clean.
- Drainage grooves are important for stable mats (grooves upwards) but the same mat can be used for gyms with grooves facing down.
